Reason for Hand Surgery

Reason for Hand Surgery

Living with rheumatoid arthritis since 2009, the daily struggle with pain became a familiar companion for me. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I noticed a significant change in my hands. The pain intensified, and the functionality of my hands began to deteriorate. After undergoing my first hand surgery in 2023 and another in 2024, I was desperate for relief.

How did I find relief after my second hand surgery?

During my recovery, My physiotherapist recommended engaging in activities that would keep my right hand active and help alleviate the pain. Drawing was suggested as a therapeutic outlet that could also benefit my mental health. Intrigued by the idea, I decided to give it a try.

How did art impact My life?

As I delved into the world of art, I discovered a newfound passion that not only distracted me from the constant pain but also provided a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Creating art became a form of therapy for Me, allowing me to express Myself in ways that words couldn't capture. It became a release for my mental health, giving me something positive to focus on amidst the challenges I faced.

What benefits did I experience from taking up drawing?

Through My art, I found solace and a sense of control in a situation that often felt overwhelming. The act of drawing not only helped to keep my right hand active but also served as a form of meditation, calming my mind and reducing my stress levels. The creative process allowed Me to channel my emotions into something beautiful, turning my pain into something meaningful and inspiring.

Today, I continues to explore the world of art, finding joy and healing in every stroke of my pencil. What started as a recommendation from my physiotherapist has blossomed into a newfound passion that has transformed my life. Through art, I have discovered a powerful tool for coping with pain, nurturing my mental well-being, and finding beauty in the midst of adversity.

Thanks

Michelle
